Chess Lesson Format

This chess lesson is one option among over 30 topics in each private lesson package. Upon purchasing a package, you’ll schedule your 60-minute lessons by choosing this topic (or another!) and then selecting a coach/tutor, date, and time that works best for you. When it’s time for the lesson, your child will connect with their coach via Zoom.

Why this lesson? With players as young as 12 years old hitting the ranks of Grandmaster, we have to ask: How did they get there, and what are their methods? The secret is no secret. Kids and teens have got to practice deliberately, play constantly, and review each match they win or lose to continuously improve their internal mental model of the game.

Under the guidance of an expert coach and mentor, students explore classic opening moves, work toward the mid-game, and rack up more play time in a controlled setting, so they can continue to improve their game. Whether they’re a novice or working their way up higher in the ranks, they’ll have dedicated time to play and hone their skills.
